國家一級重點保護野生動物布氏鯨是一種體型較大的海洋哺乳動物，體長10到13米，體重可達10至15噸。布氏鯨的存在對整個海洋生態系統有著重要的滋養作用。

日前，在廣西壯族自治區北海市潿洲島附近海域的監測顯示，2023年布氏鯨棲息數量已接近60頭，這個數字比之前的記錄有所增加，也證明了潿洲島附近海域的生態環境日趨變好。
